The consensus meeting of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia was held on Wednesday 7 October 2020 in remote mode. The meeting main objectives were twofold. First, the workshop was held to identify strengths and weaknesses of the regional health and social care system in the adoption of demand-driven innovation. Second, key stakeholders discussed how to facilitate the learning and exchange of experience in implementing demand-driven innovation with other local stakeholders. The meeting was also useful for testing the SCIROCCO Exchange tool developed for the maturity assessment of demand-driven innovation.

The key stakeholders present highlighted the region’s broad and heterogeneous area of interests for promoting open innovation within the health and social framework. Members at the meeting represented organizations belonging to all four areas of interest composing the quadruple-helix approach (Government, Academia, Industry and Civil Society). This diverse participation allowed for a meaningful discussion— underling the regions’ endeavors for promoting demand-driven innovation and inform about future areas of improvement.
