An initiative, started by AB Vassilopoulos, WWF Hellas and NIREUS, led Greece to acquire the first certified sea bream and seabass farms in Europe.

The initiative started in 2013 has been completed successfully, and as a result Greece now has the first certified sea bream and seabass farms in Europe, as the process of evaluation and certification, based on the new model Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) for these two species.

In a relevant statement, it was noted that the impact of aquaculture on fish populations, marine ecosystems, water quality and, consequently, society can be significantly reduced when responsible practices are implemented.
