GRESS at Green Cities 2020 Conference

On December 13th, 2019 representatives of the GRESS project from the Westpomeranian Region met with dr hab. Stanisław Iwan, prof. Maritime Academy in Szczecin to discuss transport change towards a green economy.

Transport, maritime economy and logistics are the major components of economic activity of the West Pomerania. Present patterns of transportation – based mainly on petrol and diesel-fuelled motor vehicles – generate a negative impact on society, environment and economy. That is why the region and university are looking for innovative solutions for the region West Pomerania and its cities that could contribute to change the situation.

During the meeting, Krzysztof Żarna - Deputy Director of the Territorial Cooperation and Tourism Department - presented the GRESS project aims and then proposed to include it in the cross-project discussion, during Green Cities 2020 Conference. 

The Conference is a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences on the implementation of urban logistics solutions in the context of sustainable development, with particular emphasis on environmental issues and reducing the negative impact of urban freight transport on the environment. 

The primary topic of the 4th edition of the Conference is electromobility in city logistics. In addition to the cross-project discussion, scientific and entrepreneurs' presentations entrepreneurship workshops for students, who are launching a startup company, are also included.
