The COVID-19 pandemic also affects the progress of the GRESS project, as the foreseen face-to-face meetings were no longer possible, neither between project partners, nor with the RSGs.

It thus became evident that GRESS needed to adjust and revise its action plan to ensure that all project objectives will be met. Travel restrictions and maintaining social distance made it impossible to work as previously. New forms of cooperation are now required.

As physical meetings are no longer possible in the near-term, as a first step, GRESS increased the frequency of (online) partner gatherings. This strengthens the bonds between partners and improves collaboration. Next, the partnership established an online platform for the exchange of experiences and good practice. This platform is also available for discussions among partners as well as for bilateral dialogue.

Despite the crisis, we even see it as an opportunity to better integrate regional stakeholders into the project. We are now preparing thematic (online) workshops for relevant members of the RSGs to discuss specific topics and to increase transregional knowledge exchange. Using digital tools, we empower the RSGs to exchange expertise and best practice.

The GRESS project is determined to achieve its objectives despite the difficult climate. We are all working collaboratively and interactively to achieve these!
