The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has opened a specific section in the Citizen's Mailbox on Energy Transition so that citizens can resolve their doubts and leave their suggestions and ideas on the subject. This initiative is in addition to various services and tools aimed at citizens, SMEs, businesses, the self-employed and other groups, such as the "Reduce your electricity bill" service, the "Generate your own energy" service and the campaign for the creation of Energy Communities, all of which are aimed at facilitating the transition that will enable us to change the energy model of our municipality.

The aim of the City Council is to carry out a safe, fair and inclusive energy transition that will turn Vitoria-Gasteiz into a benchmark municipality for distributed energy production from renewable sources. This objective is added to the promotion of an effective model for the energy rehabilitation of the city's building stock, which is being coordinated through the company Ensanche 21 Zabalgunea, as well as the promotion of quality electrified public transport and active local mobility.

In order to face the challenges posed by the energy transition at local level, it is necessary to strengthen a model of community cooperation in a prosperous, innovative and competitive economic environment where no one is left behind. In this sense, the City Council has been working since 2018 on the European INTENSIFY project to reduce carbon emissions through citizen empowerment.
