VirtuaFort is dedicated to test innovative digital technology of Virtual Reality (VR) in fortifications in the Antwerp region – as a useful tool for a durable preservation and accessibility of military heritage sites.

VirtuaFort has been made possible through Interreg Europe funding and co-funding by the city of Antwerp. The tool has been tested and developed as a RFC pilot project around Fort Lillo and its surroundings, in cooperation by a multi-professional team from Regional Landscapes, University of Antwerp, and Visual Dimension.

VirtuaFort is connecting time layers and makes information visual and understandable as a virtual experience. On the one hand by visualising historical maps, paintings, documentation and on the other hand by making future design plans and images experienceable.
