Between March 15th and 17th, 2023, the local stakeholder group from North-West Romania, together with partner organizations from Europe, held intense hybrid meetings for three days. The purpose was to ensure the sustainability of the RFC, contributing to the long-term implementation of RFC Action Plan measures.

The Recapture the Fortress Cities project had a profound impact on the local community of stakeholders in the North-West Region of Romania. It was so impactful that one of the main project stakeholders became the lead partner for a consortium that would continue the RFC inheritance. The consortium aims to capitalize on the project results and add value to the touristic valorization of heritage sites. This stakeholder had benefitted from the exchange of experiences for four years through participation in local project meetings, interregional workshops, partner study visits, and policy-related dissemination conferences.

The National History Museum of Transylvania is currently preparing an Interreg Europe proposal to implement the second measure of the North-West Region RFC Action Plan. This measure involves the preparation of cultural routes for heritage restoration, cooperation, digitization, and joint promotion. The North-West Regional Development Agency, a current RFC partner, will act as a policy authority associated partner, supporting the museum in continuing the collaborative actions meant to bring the historical heritage, its realities, challenges, and integrated solutions to the forefront.

The proposal will integrate six Roman forts and fortresses from Transylvania into a cultural belt for integrated long-standing planning and promotion. It will be built upon the LIMES Roman Frontier.
