On the 12 and 13 May, CRAFTS CODE held its first Interregional Thematic Seminar online via Zoom.

Project partners, stakeholders and participants of the project shared their 'Good Practices' which responded to the topic 'How to improve innovation in business models and process'.

On the 13 May, Lead partner Municipality of Florence, Italy presented the 'good practice': Murate Idea Park, a project by Scuola Scienze Aziendali e Tecnologie Industriali Piero Baldesi (SSATI). Murate Idea Park (MIP) is an Early Stage Incubator and Institutionalized Mentorship as a Good Practice for Startups. Mentors are individuals with deep industry, investment, or entrepreneurship experience.

Mahshad Koohgoli (MIP Mentor)  presented on the project and discussed that the mentors work with their startups pro bono, without expectation of reward or compensation, share their knowledge and guidance freely, and open their networks when appropriate. Mentoring of new projects to be developed or startups at early stages (mentees) stimulates and allows acquisition of new knowledge and social skills, and provides encouragement and support as entrepreneurs grapple with the difficult questions that they inevitably face throughout their journey. Thanks to calls for mentors MIP has formed a team of mentors that is growing every month.

Mentorship starts at early stages of a new business formation, this is a long term trusted relationship, in which the mentee will lead the relationship, inviting the mentor to assist in working through difficult decisions. Depending on the skills, expertise, and also interests of the mentor MIP identify him/her for every project/startup. The mentor counsels the founders and members of the team on acquisition of knowledge, perspective, and social skills, guiding the mentee along complex decision-making phases.
