During the second semester, the Public Service of Wallonia region (P3) organised three different Stakeholders meetings which discussed topics were the prospective analysis on the training needs I4.0 of SMEs by 2030, the presentation of the training catalogue, the presentation of the Walloon context as well as the identification of good practices for European partners.

Meetings, both online and onsite, were attended by representatives of digital Agencies, Employment and Training Agencies, training centres, competitiveness centres, companies, collectives structures for high education, the Minister of Economy, Digital and Competence centres.

Specifically, the last online meeting, held in June 2020, addressed the following points:

  • presentation of the prospective study of the SCES (evaluation of the needs of the companies on the horizon 2030): the analysis highlights transversal professions and transversal competences for Industry 4.0. In addition, needs by the sector have been identified (agri-food, aerospace, chemistry, machinery and equipment, construction & wood, pharmaceuticals & biotechnologies)
  • presentation of the 1st version of the catalogue of I4.0 training courses available for workers: the catalogue allows a 1st analysis of the training offered on the territory of the Region, shows that the offer is unevenly distributed and does not fully meet the needs identified in the prospective analysis.
  • presentation of the description of the Walloon context: the work carried out allows to have a global vision of the actors/projects/support devices/tools/strategies in Wallonia. This description was also transmitted and presented to the European partners.
  • identification of the 2-3 Walloon good practices for the European partners: 5 good practices were highlighted for the European partners.
  • identification of the next steps: evaluation and identification of the public policy instrument to be improved (keeping or not of the Industry 4.0 demonstrators). Several needs were expressed following the analysis of the value chain highlighted in the description of the Walloon context. In particular, the interest of working on a training catalogue and on a communication plan for companies, or on the improvement of pedagogical practices combining soft skills and hard skills (allowing better response to needs). The evaluation could support the action plan.

The next meeting will aim at identifying more precisely the needs, in order to start working on an action plan.
