Europe has a tradition of producing high quality animation for which it has been recognized. Yet, distribution of European animation remains a challenge: it is time for films with high potential to have a greater chance of finding a real audience. Therefore, our partner PROA proposes a moment of reflection on ‘The theatrical distribution of European animation films’.

On December 16, from 10:30am to 12pm, a dedicated panel discussion will bring together top market experts from across Europe, including Eleanor Coleman from Indie Sales (France), Adeline Margueron from Les Grignoux - Le Parc Distribution (Belgium), Antonio Saura from Latido Films (Spain) and Valérie Yendt from Gebeka Films (France), as well as an American film distributor, GKIDS. The event will be moderated by Pío Vernis from Brutal Media and ProAnimats, and introduced by Iván Agenjo, Chairman at ProAnimats and Producer at Peekaboo Animation.

The participants will provide an overview of the commercial exploitation of European animated films in cinemas, and identify the key factors as well as the main barriers to capturing larger audiences. The objective of the discussion is to propose concrete solutions and actions to improve the performance of the European animation market. The session will end with a Q&A session via chat, giving an opportunity for event attendees to engage with the speakers.

The online panel is organized by PROA, Productors Audiovisuals Federats and ProAnimats as part of the ALICE programme, with the collaboration of El meu primer festival.

It will take place via Zoom. Registration is free: forms.gle/ZN3rNz5ZemUphNSq5.
