The Municipality of Nyíregyháza (Hungary) organized its first Stakeholder meeting. Needless to say, coronavirus emergency - just like in many other aspects of life - created a new challenge for holding such meeting.
To avoid in-person contacts, the conference was organised online, using a locally! developed, fully encrypted, open source and free of charge videoconference solution: Giganet chat.
The participants came from a variety of stakeholders, ranging from representatives of a local enterprise, (Giganet Ltd.), library ( Zsigmond Móricz County and City Library), university (University of Nyíregyháza), municipality (Municipality of Nyíregyháza), together with urban development specialists.
The main aim of the meeting was to start creating a local network of stakeholders who are eager to enhance and support local e-solutions that are beneficial for all users.
The main takeaways of the meeting:
- being a 'digital well-being program point' - the local library can help citizens use digital equipment and solutions
- extending the local history database and innovative (digital) ways of promoting literature (such as telepoem booths) offer great cultural potentials
- transforming municipal administration from 'paper-based' to digital have sinificant relevance and topicality in 'coronavirus times'
- local cloud service is best improved by involving local citizens
- academic sector and municipal efforts to assess local enteprises should not be overlapping but coherent and synchronized - future consultations are coming.
The stakeholders expressed their openness to participate in follow-up meetings, continue with a broader list of participants to materialize the potentials that BETTER holds.
To be continued...:)
