Last February 2022, a meeting took place in virtual form between the County Administrative Board of Östergötland - CAB (Swedish partner), the Intermunicipal Community of Alto Minho - CIM Alto Minho (Portuguese and lead partner), and the Portuguese Environment Agency – APA (Portuguese stakeholder and the state agency whose mission is the integrated management of environmental and sustainability policies and the main environmental regulator in Portugal), within the scope of BIGDATA 4RIVERS project to discuss the TIMFIE - Time-Integrating, MicroFlow, In-line Extraction Sampler Project.
The TIMFIE Project was a good practice developed by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and presented by CAB at the 2nd Knowledge Transfer Seminar of the project BIGDATA 4RIVERS (13th and 14th of January 2022) that addresses a new sampling method for the determination of pesticide (and other pollutant) concentrations in water. After the seminar, APA expressed interest in this good practice, so CIM Alto Minho promoted a meeting between their stakeholder and the Swedish partner with the objective to obtain more information about this new method, whether it could be used to detect and quantify more emergent pollutants besides pesticides, and to see if it would be possible to replicate this new method in Portugal.
