On December 13th, 2019 the European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation implements the 1st meeting of a series of training sessions focusing on circular economy in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki starting at 9:00 am.
European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation is an initiative of 17 agencies in Greece and Bulgaria, based on the co-operation of the four-propeller components. Its statutory purposes focus on critical issues such as the environment, energy, entrepreneurship, etc. This series of training sessions are a part of its initiatives and will be implemented from December 2019 and completed in May 2020.
The main rapporteurs will be Mr. George Stavros Kremlis Honorary Managing Director of the European Commission, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Energy, Climate, Environment and Circular Economics and Professor Nikolaos Moussiopoulos, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The overall meeting will be coordinated by prof. Grigorios Zarotiadis, Dean of School of Law and Economics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering (LHTEE) of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Aristotle University Thessaloniki will actively participate in this conference since the laboratory head Professor Nikolaos Moussiopoulos will implement 2 presentations/ trainings, titled:
- What is a circular economy? The dimension and importance of local stakeholder networking
- The role of local municipalities in the transition to the circular economy. Actions to be taken
Even though it is a semi-closed event (participation forms are required to be filled prior to its implementation), the results of the event are expected to be highly disseminated since the participants will be mainly municipal and regional staff as well as political representatives that are interested into circular economy adaptation in the Greater Thessaloniki Area as well as in neighboring regions.
The training sessions’ presentations will be performed in the Greek language.
The event will be held at room 319, 3rd floor, School of Law and Economics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
