BIOREGIO project held the first regional dissemination event in Castilla-La Mancha on 27th November. The event took place at the municipal museum of Puertollano, during the conference of Circular Economy in Castilla-La Mancha, which has been chaired by Mr. Francisco Martínez Arroyo, the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Sustainable.

The focus of the day was dedicated to a circular economy. For this reason, the event has counted on the company of Anabel Rodríguez, director of Foundation for Circular Economy, Paloma López-Izquierdo, deputy general director of waste from Ministry, and Agapito Portillo Sánchez, deputy minister of Environment from Castilla-La Mancha, who have presented the legal instruments about circular economy at the European, national and regional level.

Moreover, two region´s projects related to the circular economy have been introduced to the general public. The first project, LIFE+REGROW Project, aims to regenerate a rural brownfield (olive mill wastewaters-OMW abandoned ponds) by applying different in situ biorecovering strategies (bioremediation and phytoremediation) for site decontamination and reclaiming the area to grow a green multifunctional infrastructure for educational, recreational and awareness purposes.

Next, BIOREGIO project has been presented by Susanna Vanhamäki the project manager, who came from Finland for this event. Finally, Javier Mena, a stakeholder of BIOREGIO project, has presented CLAMBER project and guided the visit to the plant.

More than 60 participants have assisted to the BIOREGIO presentation from the administration, research institutes, universities, large companies, and SMEs. All of them were very interested in BIOREGIO project and the expected results in order to achieve a circular economy.
