ICECHIM Calarasi Subsidiary has organized the 2nd BIOREGIO Regional Dissemination Event during the 14th annual International Symposium “Priorities of Chemistry for a Sustainable Development" – PRIOCHEM – on 12 October 2018 at the University “POLITEHNICA” of Bucharest-Central Library, 313 Splaiul Independenței, Sector 6, Bucharest, Romania

The Symposium priority areas were the EU research topics with impact on the national economy:

  • Energy, environment and climate change
  • Eco-nano-technologies and advanced materials
  • Bioeconomy, Biotechnology and Health
  • Technological transfer of research results
  • Sustainable development, global changes and ecosystems
  • Nanotechnologies, nanosciences and multifunctional materials




The symposium enjoyed a large audience with 209 participants (198 from Romania and 11 from abroad) consisted of representatives from research institutes, universities, NGOs, large companies, SMEs and students.

The presentations included the topic of circular bioeconomy, e.g. bio-waste recovery technologies and other related research results from on-going projects.

The BIOREGIO dissemination event was part of a workshop called BIO-BASED CIRCULAR ECONOMY - REALITIES AND PERSPECTIVES and was attended by 64 participants. The main topics were the presentation of the BIOREGIO project and the outcomes of the 4th Interregional Event that was organized in Romania during 2-3 October 2018.


The participants were very interested in BIOREGIO objectives and activities.

It was a good opportunity to initiate discussions on circular bioeconomy and to distribute BIOREGIO brochures.


The event marked an important step in promoting circular bioeconomy and accelerating the transition to a more extensive and sustainable bio-waste recovery in the South Muntenia Region and in Romania.
