Amid fears about the long-term effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the country’s health system and economy, Europe’s busiest minds are searching for fresh ideas to tackle the challenges ahead. Hack the Crisis online hackathons are held around Europe, mobilising regional DIGEM (digital innovation ecosystem) players to go to a quest for new collective responses to the virus outbreak and lockdowns challenges. There have already been 26 similar hackathons in different countries and they are also new to come this week.
Last weekend, the online hackathon Hack the Crisis @ Bulgaria generated 111 ideas for new approaches and quick actions, from highly controversial and seemingly far-fetched ones to others that can immediately be put into action and help. This initiative turned into the biggest ever hackathon in Bulgaria. The event proves the enormous power of the regional DIGEM to lead the change in time of crisis.
