INTERREGIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING AND DISSEMINATION EVENT in VARNA, BULGARIA 1.- 2.06.2022
The BAA team is happy to welcome the CECI dissemination event, which will take place in the city of Varna between 1-2 June 2022.
The event starts on the 1st of June 2022, Wednesday with a Round table discussion «On the way to sustainable change – policy improvements through CECI project for citizen involvement in circular economy» in a hybrid form, to ensure online involvement with partners, who could not participate in person.
The opening speech will be given by Mr Kosta Bazitov, Vice-Mayor of Varna.
The participants will discuss the understanding of the circular economy in everyday life – citizens for a greener future in thematic group discussions for sharing experiences between partners with the participation of Bulgarian stakeholders, citizens and media representatives.
After lunch will start a Workshop on how to accelerate pilots and new projects related to the involvement of citizens in circular economy implementation with stakeholders, representatives of the municipality of Varna, universities, NGOs, and citizens. We will work, divided into three groups.
On the second day, we will visit some local circular economy initiatives and good practices in Varna:
- “Caps for the Future” - The “Caps for the Future” charity initiative collects caps and aluminium cans in support of its children's medical equipment cause.
- Organic educational garden in kindergarten - Educational corner in the yard of the kindergarten or school, where children, educators and parents grow herbs, vegetables and fruits together.
- “Leaf by Leaf”- Leaf by leaf is a campaign for separate collection and recycling of paper, implemented by the Public Center for Environment and Sustainable Development since 2000. The campaign's motto is "One ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees from felling." Every Tuesday and Wednesday, volunteers of the organization take the paper collected from offices, institutions, schools, and homes, upon prior request. It is transported to a recycling point, where it is handed over for a fee.
