In the framework of European Week for Waste Reduction initiative, the Green Office of the University of Turin (Italy), organized on November 19, 2019, the second edition of DifferenziamoLo Strano (“Let’s differentiate the strange”): a day of education, awareness raising activities and extraordinary collection of small Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) not included in the domestic collection. The initiative has been addressed to the university community and to the citizenship as a whole. The two editions (2018 and 2019) reached more than 500 people collecting 1,660 kilos of WEEE (avoiding the emission in the atmosphere of approximately 15 tons of CO2), together with 162 kilos of exhausted batteries, 126 kilos of plastic caps and 31.4 kilos of cork stoppers. The initiative has been carried out in collaboration student associations, NGOs, cultural associations and research institutions, supported by the Municipality of Turin waste management company.
