The Cult-RInG project was promoted at the ITB tourism exhibition in Berlin on 8-10 March 2018, at the stand of project partner Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, Cyprus.


 Other Cult-RInG project partners exhibiting at ITB in Berlin were Lazio Region, Italy, Central Macedonia Region, Greece, Vidzeme Tourism Association, Latvia, etc. CHRISTA Advisory partner ECTN was represented at ITB by its President, Vice-President and Secretary, who attended various Workshops related to cultural tourism and had meetings with relevant stakeholders, policy-makers and destination managers.

The ECTN President attended the Wokshop by the Council of Europe Institute of Cultural Routes and took part in a panel debate organised by the European Cyclists Federation, stressing the opportunity of upgrading the Iron Curtain Trail cycling route (EuroVelo 13) into a Cultural Route provided by the Cult-RInG project also in the frame of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (in which ECTN is selected by the European Commission as a member of the Stakeholders Committee).

Later, at the Cult-RInG lead partner's stand, Central Macedonia, Greece, the MEP Michael Cramer (Greens, Germany), founder of the Iron Curtain Trail route and former Chair of the Transport and Tourism Committee of the European Parliament, discussed with the Tourism Director the development of the Iron Curtain Train at the Greek-Bulgarian Border at Central Macedonia region.

The benefits of European Cultural Routes are being highlighted by the Cult-RInG Project partners in 6 destinations in terms of improvements to policy instruments with mainstreaming and at pan-European level by advisory partner ECTN.
