The Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg invited to the 3rd Stakeholder Meeting in Cottbus on 11 February 2020. The initial focus was on the evaluation of the study trip of all partners of the Interreg DeCarb project to Brandenburg, which took place at the beginning of November 2019. The regional stakeholders were actively involved in the topics renaturation and post-mining landscapes. Important impulses for the further European exchange on best practice projects could thus be set.
Mr Tischer working for the State Chancellery, the office of the Lusatian Representative, then illustrated the progress of structural change in Lusatia. In addition to the legal initiatives, he referred to the funding opportunities for the region.
The presentation by Mr Toni Loitsch, Regional Energy Manager of the Lusatian-Spreewald region, dealt with the updating and implementation of the Regional Energy Concept. The regional concept is co-funded by the state and contributes as a policy instrument to the objectives of the Energy Strategy 2030. The MWAE has identified both as policy instruments, which are to be addressed by Interreg DeCarb.
In the discussion that followed, Dr Federau, Project Manager Business Development LEAG, Joint brand of Lausitz Energie Berbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG, reported on his work in a new division of the company that deals with project ideas and concepts on renewable energies and innovative storage technologies. The synergies with the objectives of Interreg DeCarb are obvious here.
An interesting contribution also came from Mr Müller from the Economic Region Lausitz (WRL), who reported about the Future Workshop Lausitz.
Here the interests of all those involved in the structural change in Lusatia are brought together and sustainable strategies are developed. A first good analysis of the region is already available. Now the implementation of individual measures and projects and the inclusion of scientific fields are pending. Finally, the stakeholders once again emphasised the advantages of exchange.
