A new brochure illustrating the energy window of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme was recently published by the European Commission’s INEA agency (Innovation and Networks Executive Agency). Since its launch in January 2014, the CEF programme has supported the development of high performing, secure and sustainable interconnected trans-European networks in the areas of transport, energy and telecommunications.
In the energy sector, the programme supports the implementation of key infrastructure projects of common interest (PCIs) in electricity, gas, smart grids and cross-border carbon dioxide networks. CEF funding for PCIs contributes to the decarbonisation efforts of the EU in the context of the European Green Deal, promoting further integration of the internal energy market, enhancing security of energy supply and integrating energy from renewable sources into the network.
In the new 'CEF Energy - Supported Actions' brochure, you will be able to find information on the current portfolio of energy infrastructure receiving €3.7 billion of EU funding. The publication gives an overview of all 139 actions launched so far (until May 2020), including the key features of the programme and a breakdown by sector.
