Valencia Regional Workshop with ERDF and institutions responsible for the policy improvement was organized on Energy Transition and Touristic Sustainability on 30 November 2021 in person. The participants were welcomed by the General Director of Natural Environment and Environmental Evaluation, Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency, and Ecological Transition, and the President of the Valencia Region Council of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Shipping. General Director from the Valencia Regional Government provided a map of the political issues related to the protection of natural areas, the strategy and management of EU funds, especially FEDER and NGEU (Next Generation EU funds), addressed to energy transition and sustainable tourism in the framework of the EU priority related to the Green Deal program.
The presentations and discussions were related to Investment Priorities in "energy transition, renewable energy and climate change" PO ERDF CV 2021-2027, to the Valencian Strategy for Climate Change and Energy 2030, measures for sustainable tourism, and the latest Initiatives to support the energy transition promoted by IVACE (Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness). It was also highlighted the importance of the dissemination of the results of Phase 1 of the Delta Lady project, such as lessons learned during the interregional partner meetings, Good Practices identified, Study case, and the Action Plan. Moreover, Phase 2 activities related to the implementation and monitoring of the actions were discussed. Two actions are to be implemented during Phase 2. Action 1: Energy Transition in the Albufera Natural Park: electrification of touristic boats, inspired by Dutch Fryslân Lakes project from the Fryslân Province. Action 2: Introduction of PES scheme in the Touristic navigation in the Albufera Natural Park, inspired by the Hunting permits from Po Delta Park, Italy.
All participants highlighted the importance of the contribution of the Delta Lady project to raising awareness about the importance of the natural areas and how other natural parks are being managed, their good practices, and activities to preserve the natural and cultural heritage through the interregional cooperation and exchange process. Moreover, they have stressed the importance of the results of the Case Study and the actions of the Action Plan, and the need and relevance to act on them.
