The DEMO-EC project started in January 2017 by addressing the issue that the population of cities increases in Europe, which presents a challenge to the organization of transport, particularly in urban areas. Six action plans were successfully developed by the participating partners and their implementation is currently being monitored. While the project is scheduled to end in December 2021, the COVID-19 crisis had an impact on the project progress in all regions during the last 1.5 years.
A new call, launched by the Interreg Europe program in spring 2021, addresses the effects of the crisis and offers ongoing projects the opportunity to continue the exchange of experience activities for one more year. The DEMO-EC partnership successfully applied for the call and will continue its cooperation until late 2022. The additional funding gives partners the opportunity to review the influence of the COVID-crisis on urban mobility and discuss ways to face and recover from it which will be beneficial for all project regions.
