Reprezentative from Municipality of Genova introduces the discussion, briefly describing the project and its aims, pointing out the importance of involving mobility managers for the development of the action plan and to promote the dissemination and knowledge of mobility management issues.
This meeting, that involves the technical structure of the Municipality that follows the project, the Area Mobility Manager and the private companies mobility managers of the municipal territory, is the first of a some of others that will be organized during the project as round table with the interested stakeholders (public bodies / institutions, public transport operators, private companies, professional and economic associations) to find suggestions, requests and needs to contribute to the drafting of the action plan.
This need is due to the fragmented public transport service and to the lack of optimal integration in this area. Excellent results were given by the car pooling service in the area of Erzelli (place of a lot of companies and University) and in the Campi area (the service is managed by a private companies). The service provides simplified methods of use through a dedicated APP, that can be used by the employees of all companies in the area, which provides incentives for both companies (environmental certifications) and employees (i.e. discounts through agreements with commercial businesses) and that it’s used by approximately ¼ of the employees of the Erzelli area.
Other incentive tools for the reduction of private cars for home-work travel are, for example, teleworking and smartworking, in particular supported by Enel, an integrated system with a new testing of the car pooling service.
From the discussion it results that the car sharing station based service is does not meet the needs of home-to-work employees, in particular it is experimented in the Erzelli area with incentives and agreements with the local car sharing company, but the users prefer a free-floating system, currently not available. Even the bike sharing service is perceived as insufficient compared to the city's needs, as currently only traditional bikes are available, while it is also necessary to introduce electric vehicles, potentially more suited to the orography of the city.
