Next practice in Design Action Plans
On 20th November in collaboration with Design4Innovation, BEDA will be hosting its Insight Forum exploring next practice in Design Action Plans bringing together experts from across the world. Lightning talks will be followed by a short hands-on exercise and then an opportunity for networking drinks.
In recent years, a number of governments around the world have adopted design action plans including Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia and Sweden in Europe and Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong and India, among others.
BEDA played an instrumental role in instigating the European Commission’s Action Plan for Design-driven Innovation. This resulted in a broad communication campaign, over £25 million in funding for design-related projects and establishing the EU Policy Lab. The European Commission is now reviewing design’s role in the policy agenda and redrafting a set of actions to be included in the new creative industries strategy.
Speakers from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Ireland, Latvia, New Zealand as well as from the European Commission will share their experiences of developing, implementing and evaluating design action plans and reflect on what’s next.
