We are following closely how the New European Bauhaus initiative develops and the first month of the new year will see the launch of the next edition of the New European Bauhaus prizes. You can browse through the virtual exhibition of the 2021 edition winners and get prepared for your submission.
The European Commission is also hosting an online information session for prospective applicants to learn more about the funding possibilities available to support projects in the area of the New European Bauhaus. On 27 January 2022, from 14:00 to 16:00 (CET) you will be able to learn about what opportunities are offered in three thematic areas:
- EU funds for the transformation of places on the ground;
- EU funds for the enabling environment for innovation; and
- EU funds for the diffusion of new meaning.

We are also looking forward to publication of a report summarising a high-level workshop on ‘research and innovation for the New European Bauhaus’ that took place at the end of November 2021. The workshop brought together leading experts in many fields relevant to the New European Bauhaus: from the built environment, from climate, from social innovation, and others; and will feed into the ongoing co-creation of the initiative.
It was also recently announced that the first NEB Festival will be organised in early June 2022. Exact dates are to be confirmed but the Festival is expected to cover four to six days. The festival will take a hybrid form with in person events in Brussels and will encourage satellite and partner events to happen alongside the main programme in other parts of the world.
