Qbuzz, the local public transport provider in Utrecht is procuring 180 new e-busses for the region. These zero-emission buses will be charged via overnight depot charging. A new bus depot ‘Westraven’ is currently under development. A group of engineering students from the University of Applied Science Utrecht designed the layout for the new depot charging infrastructure.

Important design considerations were the efficient use of space, using renewable energy as much as possible, and to limit the required power capacity.

A second group of engineering students worked on the development of a model for evaluating asset management of the value chain for zero-emission transport. Asset management studies the governance within the value chain to optimize performance, risks and costs.
