The EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in Barcelona

The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) has joined forces with a committee formed by the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the Federation of Bicycle Users of Catalonia (FEMBici) to organise the fifth edition of the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference. The EuroVelo Conference gathers professionals from the tourism and cycle tourism sectors from all around the world to discuss this growing market that employs over 500,000 Europeans and generates an economic impact of over 44 billion euros to the European economy every year.

This year edition will coincide with the launch of fully developed and signed route of EuroVelo 8 - Mediterranean Route in Barcelona. The EuroVelo Conference Field Visits will give you the chance to cycle the newly developed sections of EuroVelo 8 along Barcelona’s iconic coastline.

While the original plans were to organise the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in 2020, the COVID-19 crisis resulted in a postponement by twelve months to guarantee the safety of the event. The conference will now take place as a physical event from the 5th to the 7th October 2021, with the possibility to follow it virtually for those who can't attend in-person.

Previous editions of the Conference took place in Belgian Limburg (2018), Vienna (2016), Basel (2014) and Nantes (2012). In 2020, ECF selected Barcelona from 10 candidate European cities and regions to host the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference 2021.
