'Strategies for a competitive and sustainable tourism sector'
On Tuesday 21 September (14:00-17:00 CET), the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform (PLP) will hold a thematic webinar on strategies for a competitive and sustainable tourism sector.
Tourism is one of the economic sectors most affected by the COVID-19 crisis and is therefore at the centre of recovery efforts in many regions. As Europe moves rapidly towards reopening and safe travel resumes thanks to EU cooperation, it is time for local and regional policymakers to rethink tourism, abandon the unsustainable patterns that prevailed before the crisis and allow the sector to recover in a competitive and sustainable way, responding to the green transformations ahead.
By participating in this thematic seminar, you will see how to shape a successful local tourism development strategy and how Interreg Europe can be a powerful tool for transferring solutions to boost sustainable tourism based on the valorisation of natural and cultural heritage. You will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive discussion on best practices in two parallel working groups, the first on "Co-branding and multi-stakeholder programmes", the second on "Development of new geographically distributed and off-season tourism offers". You will also learn from the European Commission how EU funds will support tourism in your region to meet the priorities of the European Green Deal and trigger recovery.
After the seminar, experts from the Platform will still be available for individual consultations. You can book a 10' individual slot to receive information on the Platform's services, request tailor-made policy support and discuss any specific policy challenges you are facing.
