The 9th EURE set of events took place in Riga, Latvia, hosted by the Riga City Council. As for other events, it included a thematic seminar and several study visits.

The aim of the thematic seminar, entitled "Regional cooperation for Integrated Sustainable Urban Development in Latvia", was to acquaint the EURE project partners with the national framework of Cohesion Policy in the 2021-2027 planning period in Latvia with a focus on the possibilities of improving resource-efficient urban and environmental management policy.

The study visit took partners to the following places and projects:

  • Remediation of former Augusta Deglava Street landfill: the remediation project of the Augusta Deglava street landfill, closed for use 39 years ago, has been funded by the EU Cohesion Fund 2007-2013 Riga to improve the environment of nearby population and gives way to new green infrastructure and spatial development.
  • Gardens of Sporta Pils: this project aims to open the former Sporta Pils complex territory for new residential area in cooperation with citizens so they take an active part in the city's development and promote more sustainable lifestyles.
