Voucher schemes offer a dynamic, fast and simple means to allocate funds to SMEs, thereby being an interesting tool for responding to situations of economic crisis. Thanks to exchange of experience in the TRINNO project, the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology improved a voucher scheme that was being developed. With inspiration from good practices, they were able to quickly and efficiently set up and launched a new call within the ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020 establishing a small-value voucher system for SMEs. The vouchers allow SMEs to acquire relevant knowledge and to develop in the areas of digital marketing and e-commerce. As a result of the new scheme, SMEs can quickly and easily apply for vouchers of up to € 9,999 with 60% ERDF co-financing throughout the whole period of 2019-2023. How was it set up and does it work?
