FOLK FESTS
From tourism development approach, festivals are viewed as tools in place marketing and destination image making, and are valued for their ability to animate cities and regions, resorts and attractions. The project “FOLK FESTS” will provide significant, long term added value changes to the participation areas, by contributing in the growth of the tourism sector, local economy and employment, as well as entrepreneurship, through the development and promotion of the festival tourism market that will mobilize the growth of the entire tourism destination. The project will lead to the establishment of borderless intangible heritage Routes and the creation of festival thematic tourism products that will be supported by other thematic tourism products such as cultural, gastronomy and parallel tourist activities. The project aims to attract internal as well as incoming tourists and specifically aims at the Festival Tourism Enthusiast market segment. Additionally the project will result to improved capacity to support entrepreneurship, cross border collaborations and business competitiveness. The socio-economic effects of the project will positively influence the entire area by creating lever for educational events and festivals management programs, smart promotion, certification of qualification and labeling, methodologies and tools, know-how and transferable experience that contribute to the strengthening and development of the local economy and society.
