Mobility service for rural border regions
Many rural regions in Europe are facing shrinking and aging populations. The provision of an adequate infrastructure for the population with everyday goods, medical care or access to leisure activities is a constant challenge due to the low population density. A particular problem is the mobility of elderly and disabled people who cannot use their own car. This project aims to create virtual images for several rural pilot regions that cross the borders of different countries of the European Union. The project starts with the development of an approach to the collection and management of data from areas in neighboring countries. It will then be demonstrated how this data can be used to predict transport demand. Finally, the usefulness of this approach will be demonstrated by making recommendations on how to improve public transport in the pilot regions.
