Educating citizens on road behavior and the safe driving of motor vehicles
It is well known that traffic accidents are of high importance to the public health spectrum around the world. Moreover, in developing countries such as Italy, the mortality rate from road traffic accidents is rather high in comparison to European countries. Not only do the majority of the people killed and seriously injured significantly affect the quality of life of the citizens, but traffic accidents also negatively impact a nation's economic and social development. Statistics show that far more people are injured or die in traffic accidents than are afflicted by any of the most serious diseases. The very high occurrence of traffic accidents in Italy has become one of the country's major social issues. The importance of human factors in transport policy discussion is growing. There is a realization that policy options that appear beneficial in principle have to be checked for their feasibility of implementation. Understanding and describing driver behavior become a challenge when one tries to identify driver errors in determining accident/conflict causal factors and countermeasures. In recent years, having understood the serious effects of traffic accidents on society at large, scientific researchers, traffic engineers, and policymakers in Italy have developed many projects and conducted research in the field of traffic safety and recently updated the road code which entered into force this year on November 10. The human factor is also considered to be the central element in the whole system. The final goal is to organize a traffic environment that is convenient and safe for road users. The implementation of this project aims to implement the risk analysis approach in assessing the impacts of education and implementation on traffic safety, civic education for the behavior on the road and safe driving of motor vehicles, including different age groups but mainly young drivers and youth in the general community who use the roads every day as walkers, as motor vehicle drivers, or other vehicles such as motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, monopaths, skyboards, etc. The main topics that will be addressed: 1- Civic education on the use of roads as pedestrians or drivers. 2-Educating citizens as a whole on the use of protective equipment while driving motor vehicles or using other road vehicles. 3-Educating young people to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. 4-Education and orientation of citizens towards the use of hybrid or electric road vehicles which pollute the environment as little as possible by significantly affecting the concept of health and ecological economic and social damage.
