On June 12th and 13th, 2019, FINCH partners will visit Magdeburg, a beautiful city in the heart of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. The fourth Interregional Workshop is hosted by the Investitionsbank Sachsen-Anhalt (short: IB; EN: Development Bank of Saxony-Anhalt) and will focus on light financial instruments which can be used in financing cultural heritage.
On June 12, partners will start the visit with an introduction into the FINCH plans for Saxony-Anhalt and will learn about the IB as a major provider for funding as well as an intermediary between customers and public authorities in Saxony-Anhalt. In the afternoon, partners will then have a chance to visit the “Ravelin” a military fortress from the 1900s which was partially restored using financial instruments like crowd-funding and private investments.
The second day will take place at “Schloss Hundisburg”, a castle with its origins in the 12th century which almost completely burned down during the second World War and has been lovingly rebuilt in the past 25 years since 1994. Through a number of different financial sources it was brought back to its former glory and has retaken its place as one of the most important rural baroque castles in Saxony-Anhalt.
Together with the Interregional Workshops hosted by all FINCH partners, this will be the foundation for the exchange of experiences and the improvement of regional policies towards more sustainable models of cultural heritage valorization.
