The Regional Government of Extremadura organizes along with FUNDECYT-PCTEx and the Innovation Office the `RIS3 Extremadura Forum 2016 ', which will take place on 10 November at the CCMI in Cáceres. A participative forum with conferences on R&D funding, new trends on green economy and innovation, workshops and bilateral meetings between companies and research centres to boost competitiveness .

RIS3 Extremadura Forum 2016 intends to assess the current situation and expectations of the future in terms of innovation, research and development in Extremadura, through the experience provided by companies and entrepreneurs, researchers, scholars and regional key players in innovation.

The event starts at 9.30pm at the Jesús Inosión Minimal Invasion Surgery Center, with an inauguration ceremony led by José Luis Navarro, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of the Regional Government of Extremadura (Junta de Extremadura), and Jesús Alonso, General Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Throughout the day, issues identified as priorities in the Extremadura Intelligent Specialization Strategy will be addressed. For instance, key sectors for the growth of the region and related to the green economy such as agri-food sector, clean energy, tourism, health and information and communication technologies.

EXPERTS OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The program includes presentations by international experts from the European Commission on the importance of innovation for less developed regions. They will discuss different topics, such as the green economy and its potential in Extremadura, the possibilities of growth based on the region's assets or its challenges and competitive advantages.

BILATERAL ENCOUNTERS, FINANCING AND SUPPORTING INNOVATION

In order to foster the exchange of knowledge and the transfer of technology to the productive framework - one of the objectives of the event - companies will be able to participate in bilateral meetings to express their challenges and needs, and try to find possible business associations or solutions through the exchange with the Extremadura scientific community.

Workshops will also be held to analyse European funding possibilities for Extremadura Business, or the design of new tools to support business innovation. For that purpose, the Forum has the support and participation of the Enterprise Europe Network, an international business network with over 600 offices worldwide and 3,000 local experts in legislation, technology transfer and access to European funding.
