London Authority hosts today the working seminar on the Energy Efficiency Investment Fund for South West England, which is being designed through the FINERPOL initiative coordinated by the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

The London Authority, along with Plymouth County, organizes this working day, which is being held in London's Parliament Square, specifically in the Royal Institute building. It involves participation of political representatives from the Extremadura region and coordinators of the Project, as well as politicians from regions of Italy, Germany, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Altogether, more than 30 international political representatives are working on the design of an Investment Fund Model that will promote the energy rehabilitation of housing in their respective regions. These investment funds will raise capital from private investment funds, European Union structural funds and European Investment Bank funds from the Juncker Plan. The size of each investment fund will vary by region, from a minimum of 60 million euros to 200 million euros.

In order to secure funding from the European Union and the Juncker Plan, the political and technical representatives of the regions are working on a document which will define the technical and legal structure of the Fund, and which has to be approved by the Commission. Work done so far is being shown today in London, where the London Authority will also present the results of its previous Energy Rehabilitation Plan for buildings, called "London Green Fund".

This seminar in London complements another one organized in September in Prague, attended by more than 40 political representatives and where the structures of three investment funds financed by the city of Prague, the Economy Ministry and the Rural Development Ministry were discussed.

At the next political meeting, scheduled for February in Italy, the eight countries will present their first investment fund proposal, which will be validated and presented to the Commission in Brussels during the European Energy Week in June 2017.

These actions are financed with FEDER funds, within the FINERPOL project of the INTERREG Europe program, which is coordinated by the Autonomous Community of Extremadura through AGENEX (Extremadura Energy Agency) , with the participation of the Regional Government of Extremadura (Junta de Extremadura).
