Throughout the FC4EU project, two regions have been reviewed in relation to challenges within the food systems. Flevoland, a province known for its agriculture, more specifically open field production, is the next region for review.
The Province of Flevoland alongside of Aeres University of Applied Sciences and regional entrepreneurs, invite experts from other regions in the FC4EU project to conduct a peer review of food systems within the province between 3-rd and 6-th July 2018. The event will illustrate various levels of food supply chains within the province, including presentations from government, academia, and business. The experts will critically evaluate the current situation within the province, and provide realistic recommendations to improve the current situation within the province.
The focus of the peer review is on improving the situation on short and regional food supply chain ecosystems. The scope of the peer review will focus on two main points. The first will be to understand how food and agriculture businesses can cooperate in an effective manner to create, improve and deliver short and regional food chains. The second point of focus on understanding how government and knowledge institutions can effectively support businesses within the food industry throughout the province.
During the review, experts will visit various relevant stakeholders (government, education, and companies), to get a wide spectrum of the current situation of the food system within the province. Various areas of the region will be reviewed (Almere, Dronten, and Lelystad), to highlight the diversity and challenges which can be faced within the province in relation to the food system.
