Several international Interreg Europe projects, including FOUNDATION, involve the close collaboration of city leadership, universities, company executives, chambers of commerce, and economic development organizations to actively promote and facilitate the economic resilience of the city.

This collaboration is grounded in the Szombathely2030 development plan, which seeks to achieve comprehensive and sustainable city growth over the next decade. However, its success hinges on the participants undertaking united and value-generating specific activities as part of the plan.

Here are a few examples among the numerous initiatives mentioned:

  • Szombathely and PBN have launched a joint program for city development based on open-access data.
  • Szombathely's development plans were presented by the leadership of the city to a wide professional audience in a PLP workshop in Gent, Belgium.
  • The city and PBN initiated green energy-related development planning for large-scale investment preparation.

In the second part of the meeting, the participants agreed on joint developments they would like to implement in the next six months to one year, and they discussed the available resources for these projects. It is also the goal that each participant carries out at least one strategic project within the framework of the Szombathely2030 program.
