On 21 and 22 November, the Ile-de-France Film Commission welcomed 30 professionals from the seven European Green Screen-partners countries to show them the work it has been doing since 2009 on eco-production, through its involvement in within the Ecoprod collective project.
Sustainable content and production
After a presentation of the Sustainable Development Strategy of the Ministry of Culture and Communication which focuses as much on the content as on the modes of production of the works (eco-designed exhibitions and movies theaters, promotion of films on sustainable development ...) , the company Secoya and the production manager Nicolas Trabaud came to testify concrete actions that can be engaged on a shoot. Nicolas Trabaud shared all the good practices that have been implemented on the set of Missions, a television series broadcasted by OCS, which is mainly filmed in Ile-de-France and supported by its Cinema and Audiovisual Support Fund.
Recovery of material
A visit was then organized at the Réserve des Arts, an innovative place for the recovery of materials for the creative sector and supported by the Ile-de-France Region. A discussion about the eco-design of the sets and their recoveries after filming was initiated with the stage designer William Abello and Orion Clisson, stage manager at Studio Kremlin.
Recovering heat from software use
The second day was devoted to the commitment of the producers and audiovisual equipment companies. Jean-Baptiste Spieser of the Team'To animation studio came to testify good practices implemented to reduce the carbon impact of animated film production, in particular by recovering the heat generated by the rendering image software.
Their approach was supported by the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image under the Technical Industries Fund, whose ecological component was also presented. Catherine Puiseux, head of TF1 Initiatives, spoke about the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy of a large audiovisual group such as TF1, whether in content, purchasing policy or the actual production of programs. TF1 and the CNC are members of the Ecoprod collective, in the same way as the Ile-de-France Film Commission.
This exchange of good practices took place within the framework of the European Green Screen project, funded by the Interreg program of the European Union. After London and Paris, the next meeting will take place in Brussels in 2019.
