The European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) in collaboration with the European Investment Bank (EIB) will host the 7th annual EU conference on EAFRD financial instruments, titled "Stock-taking of 2014-2020 and Looking Forward," which will take place online on Thursday, November 18, 2021. It will focus on the results, challenges, and achievements achieved in the previous programming period 2014-2020.
Janusz Wojciechowski, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, will begin the conference, which will also feature Spilios Livanos, Greece's Minister of Rural Development and Food, and Christian Kettel Thomsen, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank. The conference will also determine policy directions for the use of new financial instruments or the continuation of existing ones under the CAP Strategic Plans, in accordance with the European Commission's recommendations and the innovations brought in the new legal framework.
During the conference, a dedicated session will focus on the latest EAFRD-supported guarantee instrument that has been implemented in Greece, as well as any developments related to its monitoring and reporting. Representatives of EAFRD controlling authorities from a number of European capitals will also share their existing experiences and plans for the future use of financial instruments in agriculture. This will be supplemented by inputs from DG AGRI and the EIB, which will outline options for providing additional support to the EAFRD governing authority.
