The Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform is organising a webinar series on ‘Cycling Cities’ to support cities and regions across Europe in the design of policies to foster urban cycling on 21st January, 28th January and 4th February at 14.00-15.30 CET.

Cycling is a core element of any urban mobility strategy that helps to improve air quality and reach carbon neutrality goals by mid-century within the transport sector following the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement.

The Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy unveiled by the European Commission in December 2020 indicates that in the next decade cities should keep on investing in the expansion of their cycling infrastructure. By 2030 Europe will need to add 5,000 km of safe bike lanes to its cycling infrastructure.

The three thematic webinars will explore strategic planning for cycling at city level, address bicycle network and infrastructure development and also look at policies designed to encourage more people to cycle. Inspiring solutions and good practices will be featured and opportunities to engage directly in questions and discussions with those who have implemented them, as well as with the thematic experts, will be presented.
