Cork is the second largest city in Ireland, located on the south-west coast. Cork City Council is responsible for the city's housing and community, roads and transportation, urban planning and development, amenity & culture and the environment.

Senior Executive Engineer, Brian Cassidy, has led a large number of Cork City Council’s social housing retrofits . The focus of this webinar will be on three projects that Brian is involved with that utilise monitoring and measuring systems:

1. MiniStor – This is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to demonstrate the benefits of using Thermo Change and Phase Changes materials to reduce the carbon footprint of the home.

2. Red-Wolf is an Interreg North West Europe project that will demonstrate the feasibility of electrical demand side management to reduce carbon emissions.

3. The Energy and Environmental Monitoring Measuring and Reporting (EEMMR) system will measure the environmental aspects of the home pre and post retrofit. The use of the EEMMR platform is a good example of engaging with communities in order to increase awareness of the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. (This action is arising from the Interreg Europe EMPOWER project supported by Cork City Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage)
