José Hernández received the Telecommunications Engineering degree in 2008 and he has experience in CARTIF since 2010. His work has been focused on ICT systems for Energy Efficiency in Buildings. His main research topics have been focused on Building Energy Management Systems, energy and comfort monitoring, interoperability, decision-making tools and analytics within the Energy department. From the aforementioned themes, he has published several scientific publications. 

CARTIF is a horizontal, private and non-profit technology centre. Its mission is to offer innovative solutions to companies to improve theire processes, systems and products, improving their competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.  

CARTIF develops R + D + I projects financed directly by the companies or through public funds obtained in competitive calls at national and international level.  CARTIF also advises public administrations (municipalities and regional governments), in the planning and development of innovative projects with a high economic return.

During last 3 years, his main activity has been centred into Smart Cities projects, mainly Urban Platforms and Big-Data techniques for a more environmentally friendly ecosystem. He is also member of the BDVA (Big-Data Value Association) within the Task Force 7: Smart Cities. Finally, Jose leads the Urban Platform development within mySMARTLife project. 

At the fourth thematic event of the Intensify Project to be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hosted by the CEA (Centro de Estudios Ambientales), José will share his insights into digital platforms with the project partners and stakeholders so that they can maximise their use to the benefit of the Interreg Europe Intensify project.
