INTENSIFY project forth thematic event about digital social platforms (DSP), held in Vitoria-Gasteiz in May 2019.  

The Environmental Studies Centre (CEA) hosted the INTENSIFY TE4. This event, open to all the project partners and invited stakeholders, has explored the capability of digital social platforms to reach and engage citizens in the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 

 The speakers from their field of expertise provided valuable information on the subject. 

Vanessa Pulgarin-Auguilla from ERVIA, Cork-CITY, focused her presentation ¨How to increase the impact of digital social platforms?”, on how to make digital social platforms more attractive and to be able to reach a larger audience. 

Theo Fernandes (BASEFORM - Milton Keynes and Faculty of Sciences and Technology in the New University of Lisbon), presented the DSP POWER h2020. This platform is part of the European project POWER “Political and social awareness on water Environmental challenges” and has been designed to engage, on a large scale, with stakeholders in the co-creation and delivery of digital products and services to citizens involving awareness-raising, new policy initiatives and deployment. 

 As a local speaker, José Hernández from CARTIF, Valladolid, presented “Citizen-focused urban platforms for the energy digital transformation” sharing his experience in, how digital urban city platforms operate as enablers for the digital transformation and in particular in the energy transition, making citizens the core of the transformation by taking active part during the whole process. 

  From the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, the last speaker, Alexandra Alfoldiová, focused on the key ideas of how to rise awareness of the need for environmental protection using gaming in the virtual environment. The title of his presentation was “How to engage students in digital games”
