The next INTHERWASTE Thematic Seminar will focus on “Waste Minimization in Heritage Cities”. It will take place on 13-14 June in Córdoba, Spain.

This event, moderated by ACR+, will address waste reduction and avoidance, the top priority when it comes to the waste management hierarchy. The cases chosen by the partners will describe practices such as awareness raising campaign, Pay-As-You-Throw system or the installation of urban composting bins.

Get in touch with us at [email protected] if you would like to receive more information and participate in this event.

Among the other activities that will be undertaken by the partners, there will be:

  • Bilateral meetings for transfer of experience: Partner cities have selected, among the practices presented during the seminars, the most suitable ones for their own environment. They are now holding bilateral meetings with the city that developed the practice in order to discuss more concretely its implementation on their territory (read this article for more information). Feasibility studies will subsequently be conducted;
  • Local stakeholders meetings: Organised in each partner city to exchange experience and share opinions about the improvement of waste management. It is also a good opportunity for local stakeholders to contribute and identify best practices, therefore co-constructing with the partners the future waste management strategy. Summaries of previous meetings can already be found in the INTHERWASTE library;
  • Targeted communication events: Destined to present the project and its benefits to various audiences, such as policy makers, cultural networks, civil society (see here an example of activity organised by Tallinn Municipality);
  • Publication of a collection of good practices in waste management in urban Heritage sites: this document will contain around 50 cases which were exchanged and shared within the partnership during the first half of the project.
