Not only homeowners, but also tenants can produce solar power themselves and thus actively promote the energy transition - with plug-in photovoltaic systems.

These plug-in PV systems are also called mini PV systems, micro PV systems, balcony power plants or plug & play solar systems. They can simply be connected to the household power grid with a special plug and feed the solar electricity directly into the grid.

Prof. Markus Hoyer explains how, where and by whom these systems are installed, what storage options are available and what else needs to be considered. The expert also reports on the research project "Plug-in PV systems in the Hannover Region", which is funded by the enercity proKlima fund.
