The valorization of Meschio River had been selected as one of the most relevant priorities for the Municipality of Vittorio Veneto in the Strategic Recommendations 2021-2027 for Touristic Development of the City, the second Policy Instrument addressed by Local Flavours project. In this framework, the Local Flavours Action Plan set a specific action (2.1) entitled “valorizing the Meschio River as a touristic attractor”, connected with two related Sub-Actions: A) 2.1.1 Reinforce the cooperation among PAs and Enterprises for the valorisation of Meschio River and B) 2.1.2 Define and realize creativity-led initiatives for the valorisation of Meschio River.

From June 2021 to May 2022, the Municipality of Vittorio Veneto managed to implement Sub Action 2.1.1, by formalizing in June 2021 a “cooperation agreement” between Vittorio Veneto and the other 5 municipalities “touched by” the Meschio River (Cappella Maggiore, Colle Umberto, Cordignano, Caneva, Sacile). The objective of this agreement was the planning and implementation of a Meschio Cycle Route, a route that would then allow it to join the Livenza route leading to the Adriatic Sea, in Caorle.
