The Business Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP), which is led by the Durham County Council and supported by the European Regional Development Fund, aims to help businesses of all sizes to save money by reducing their energy consumption, which in turn helps the environment.

After getting in touch with BEEP, P&P Windows, based in Peterlee, received a free audit that identified a clear problem with the cost of lighting which if reduced, would save the business money.

It was also given a grant of £4,650 to support lighting changes which will see the company make significant savings every year.

Ian Darby, manager of P&P, said: "The new lighting is fantastic, the customer showroom is the best it has ever looked, and the light quality in the factory and storage area is a vast improvement. We are over the moon with the work."

Calum Baker, BEEP project manager, said: "We were delighted to hear from P&P Windows and happy to provide our expert eye to help them make the right changes to their business.

"Many organisations don't realise the vast savings they could make by changing so little. We want to help as many County Durham businesses as possible make savings, develop, grow and thrive."

BEEP launched in late 2016, working in tandem with Business Durham. The team provides free energy audits, advice and support to small and medium sized businesses across County Durham, with some businesses also being eligible for financial support.
