The cluster NMWP.NRW took part at the  „Erfolgreich in den Schlüsseltechnologien“ (Being successful in Key Enabling Technologies), which was held in Duesseldorf on March 26, 2019. The event was, at the same time, the Final Dissemination Event of the project NMP-REG at the end of Phase I. 20 participants from industry, science and policy attended the meeting.

Besides NMP-REG, two further Interreg Europe projects took the opportunity to inform about their objectives and activities: i) project STEPHANIE (Space TEchnology with PHotonics for market and societal challenges), which is also coordinated by the cluster NMWP.NRW, and ii) project KISS ME (Knowledge & Innovation Strategies involving SME in the context of INTERREG), which is managed by Euregio Rhein-Waal as Lead Partner.

Heinz Brueckelmann and Dirk Kalinowski (both cluster NMWP.NRW) as well as Sina Hoch of Euregio Rhein-Waal reported on their experiences with Interreg Europe projects and underlined the importance of interregional collaboration and the impact that those projects can have on the innovative capacity and competitiveness of the NRW economy. They further gave a detailed summary of the project results received so far and ongoing activities.

Special attention attracted the Action Plan that will be implemented in the framework of NMP-REG in NRW in the coming two years. The Action Plan includes several measures targeting the stimulation and support of young entrepreneurs and start-ups engaging in key enabling technologies, from information and networking events to a business accelerator programme with a focus on high-tech applications in the field of nano and microtechnology, advanced materials and optical technologies.
